What are Botox and Fillers?

Botox and dermal fillers are similar treatments however there are differences which are explained in more detail below:


Botox is a skin treatment derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum under the brand name of Botox. It’s an injection-based procedure that’s primarily used to treat wrinkles and is also effective in the treatment of conditions such as and strabismus (eyes that point in different directions).


When injected into an area of the body, Botox blocks nerve signals to the muscles and stops a muscle from contracting. This leads to wrinkles relaxing and skin softening.


Dermal fillers are also an injection-based treatment that helps to reduce wrinkles. Also known as soft tissue fillers, they are compounds injected into the skin to provide added depth and volume.

Dermal fillers can be used across multiple areas of the body, including the forehead, lips, nose, cheeks and chin.

Botox and Fillers: Which is Better?

Rather than focusing on which treatment is ‘better’, it’s more appropriate to consider which is more suitable. After all, everyone’s skin is unique, and you’ll have your own set of preferences and conditions to deal with.


In terms of time and cost, Botox and fillers are similar because they are both quick, cost-effective procedures. Neither has an extended recovery time after treatment is completed.


From a results perspective, dermal fillers are generally longer lasting and there’s the advantage of The Real Age Test procedure being reversible if you’d like to have a filler taken out.
