Breast Lift with Implants in London

Breast lift with implants at Centre for Surgery London — augmentation-mastopexy combining Silimed silicone implants with mastopexy in a single day-case operation under TIVA at our CQC-regulated Baker Street facility.

Breast lift with implants — also known as augmentation-mastopexy — is a combined procedure that addresses both breast ptosis (sagging) and volume loss in a single operation. The breast lift component reshapes and elevates the breast tissue and repositions the nipple-areola complex to a higher position; the implant component restores or increases breast volume and upper pole fullness.

The combination is appropriate for patients whose primary concerns are both descent and deflation — common after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or significant weight loss. Augmentation alone does not lift the breast. A lift alone does not restore volume. Where both concerns are present, a combined approach typically produces a significantly better result than either procedure performed separately.

At Centre for Surgery, augmentation-mastopexy is performed by consultant plastic surgeons on the GMC Specialist Register at our CQC-regulated Baker Street facility. Surgery is carried out under TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) as a day-case and typically takes 3–4 hours. A two-week cooling-off period applies after your consultation.

What is Breast Lift with Implants?

How breast lift with implants works at Centre for Surgery — augmentation-mastopexy combines two distinct components in a single operation. The mastopexy lift removes excess skin and elevates the breast tissue, repositioning the nipple-areola complex to a higher forward-facing position. The Silimed implant then restores the upper-pole volume that deflation has removed.

Breast lift with implants (augmentation-mastopexy) is a combined surgical procedure involving two distinct components performed in the same operation:

The lift removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding breast tissue to elevate the breast mound and reposition the nipple-areola complex. It corrects ptosis — the descent of the breast caused by ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. The lift reshapes the breast but does not significantly change its volume.

Implants increase breast volume, add upper pole fullness, and restore projection. For patients who have experienced significant deflation, implants address the volume loss that a lift alone cannot correct.

Combined in a single operation, augmentation-mastopexy produces a breast that is both elevated and fuller — with a higher nipple position, improved upper pole projection, better cleavage, and a rounder, more projected overall shape than either procedure could achieve alone.

Augmentation-mastopexy is one of the most technically complex breast procedures — the tension of the lift and the weight of the implant create competing forces on the breast tissue, requiring careful surgical planning of implant size, placement, and incision pattern. At Centre for Surgery, your surgeon will advise at consultation on whether a single-stage combined procedure or staged approach (lift first, implants later) is the most appropriate plan for your specific anatomy.

Breast Lift with Implants Before & After Results

All patients whose photographs appear below have given full written consent for the use of their images for educational purposes. Individual results vary depending on the degree of ptosis, implant choice, and each patient’s anatomy.

Case 1 — Augmentation-mastopexy. Significant ptosis corrected with simultaneous implant placement. Nipple repositioned to a higher, forward-facing position. Improved upper pole volume and projection.

Case 2 — Combined lift and augmentation following post-pregnancy volume loss and descent. Breast mound elevated; implants restored upper pole fullness and cleavage.

Case 3 — Augmentation-mastopexy correcting moderate ptosis and deflation. Anchor technique used for comprehensive skin removal alongside implant placement for volume restoration.

Case 4 — Lollipop lift combined with round implants. Improved breast position, symmetry, and volume. Natural upper pole transition with no visible implant edge.

Case 5 — Combined procedure addressing both grade 2 ptosis and volume loss after significant weight reduction. Breast mound reshaped and elevated; implants restored projection.

Case 6 — Augmentation-mastopexy with asymmetry correction. Different implant volumes used bilaterally alongside individualised lift technique to achieve balanced, symmetrical result.

Benefits of Breast Lift with Implants

Why combined augmentation-mastopexy is needed — when both breast descent and volume loss are present, a lift alone leaves a hollow upper pole, and implants alone leave the breast still ptotic. The combined procedure is the only approach that fully corrects both position and volume in a single operation.

The combined augmentation-mastopexy addresses concerns that neither procedure alone can fully resolve:

The lift elevates the breast mound, repositions the nipple-areola complex to a forward-facing, central position, and removes excess skin — correcting the descent caused by pregnancy, ageing, or weight loss.

Implants restore the volume that is lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight lossfilling the deflated upper pole that a lift alone cannot address. The result is a breast with both the correct position and the appropriate volume.

Augmentation adds volume that improves cleavage — particularly the upper pole fullness that is lost after deflation. A lift alone does not improve cleavage when volume loss is the primary cause. See:

Combining augmentation and mastopexy allows for independent correction of asymmetry in both position and volume — using different implant sizes or different lift techniques on each side to achieve a more balanced result.

Combining both procedures in a single operation means one TIVA, one recovery, and one healing period — rather th

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Lift with Implants?

Ptosis grading reference for breast lift with implants candidacy at Centre for Surgery — breast descent is classified by the position of the nipple relative to the inframammary fold. When both ptosis at any grade and volume loss are present, combined augmentation-mastopexy is indicated.

Augmentation-mastopexy is appropriate for adults who have both breast ptosis and volume loss and want to address both in a single operation.

The procedure is indicated where a patient has both: descent of the breast mound with the nipple-areola complex displaced below its natural position (ptosis), and volume loss or deflation of the breast — particularly in the upper pole and cleavage area. This combination is common after pregnancy, breastfeeding, and significant weight loss.

Augmentation alone does not lift the breast. If significant ptosis is present and only augmentation is performed, the breast will be larger but still ptotic — with a heavier appearance that can accelerate further descent. Patients expecting augmentation to simultaneously lift the breast will be disappointed.

A lift alone corrects position but does not restore volume. Patients with significant deflation who have only a lift will have a well-positioned breast with inadequate upper pole fullness — particularly in the cleavage area.

Standard surgical fitness criteria apply: good general health, stable weight, BMI appropriate for day-case TIVA surgery, non-smoker or willing to stop for 4 weeks before and after surgery.

Patients planning pregnancy imminently are generally advised to delay combined surgery. Pregnancy can cause the breast to descend again and affect implant results. Patients who have recently lost a significant amount of weight should be at a stable weight before surgery.

For patients with very large implants, very significant ptosis, or poor tissue quality, a staged approach — lift first, implants after 3–6 months — may reduce risk. Your surgeon will advise whether single-stage or staged surgery is appropriate for your anatomy at consultation.

What Does Breast Lift with Implants Surgery Involve?

The three incision patterns used in breast lift with implants surgery at Centre for Surgery London — periareolar doughnut for mild ptosis, lollipop vertical for moderate ptosis, and anchor inverted-T for severe ptosis. The appropriate technique is selected based on the degree of breast descent and the volume of skin to be removed.

Augmentation-mastopexy is performed as a day-case at our Baker Street facility under TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) — the safest form of general anaesthesia for day-case surgery. The procedure typically takes 3–4 hours.

The incision pattern for the lift component is determined by the degree of ptosis and the amount of skin to be removed.

A circular incision around the outer edge of the areola only. Appropriate for mild ptosis with minimal skin excess. Produces the least scarring but the least lifting power.

Incision around the areola and vertically to the breast crease. Appropriate for moderate ptosis. Allows more substantial skin removal and tissue reshaping than the periareolar approach.

Incision around the areola, vertically to the crease, and horizontally along the inframammary fold. Appropriate for significant ptosis or patients requiring a very substantial skin removal. Produces the most extensive scarring but allows the most comprehensive correction.

Once the lift component is completed and the breast tissue is reshaped and elevated, the implant is inserted through the inframammary fold incision using the Breast Funnel no-touch techniqueminimising contamination risk. The implant is placed in the planned pocket (subglandular or dual plane). All incisions are then closed in layers with dissolvable sutures only.

Scars are permanent but typically fade significantly over 12 months. Silicone gel or tape from 4–6 weeks post-operatively improves scar quality. Cosmetic tattooing around the areola scar is available to further minimise its appearance where appropriate.

After the procedure, you recover in our monitored day suite before discharge with your responsible adult, post-operative medications, written care instructions, and a direct 24/7 clinical support number.

Recovery After Breast Lift with Implants

Breast lift with implants recovery timeline at Centre for Surgery Londonday-case surgery under TIVA, week one of rest with surgical bra worn continuously, wound check at 7–10 days, return to desk work, light lower body exercise from week three, surgeon review at six weeks, and final settled result with scars fading significantly between three and twelve months.

Recovery after augmentation-mastopexy reflects both procedure components — the mastopexy and the augmentation. Most patients find recovery well-tolerated; discomfort is typically managed with paracetamol from the end of week 1.

A specialised dressing is applied over the incisions in theatre. A post-surgical bra is fitted before discharge. Arrange a responsible adult to collect you and remain with you for the first 24 hours. Our clinical team calls you the morning after surgery.

Rest at home. Wear surgical bra continuously — do not remove it. Avoid raising arms above shoulder height and any heavy lifting. Minor discomfort is normal and managed with prescribed medication. Wound check with our nursing team at 7–10 days. Dissolvable sutures only — no removal appointment needed.

Return to desk work typically possible by 7–10 days. Avoid excessive arm movements for the first 2 weeks to protect incision healing. Light lower body exercise from week 3. Continue avoiding all chest and upper body exertion.

Gradual increase in normal daily activities. Surgical bra worn continuously for the full 6 weeks.

Surgeon review at 6 weeks. Upper body exercise and sport can resume. Transition to underwired bra permitted.

Final results visible at 3–6 months as implants settle and swelling resolves. Scars fade over 12 months.

FAQs
What To Expect

When you have a consultation with your surgeon for breast lift with implants, a number of measurements are taken of your breast dimensions and an assessment will be made of the nipple-areola position and the soft tissue quality. Our surgeons are skilled in all types of combined augmentation mastopexy surgery and the most appropriate choice will be made based on your preferences. The surgeon will also give information on the location of the incision for the breast lift with implants procedure. When a breast lift with implants is decided upon, you can either have a single stage combined breast lift and implants procedure or have the breast lift procedure first followed by the breast augmentation procedure 3 months later. If you choose implants that are larger than 390cc, your surgeon may advise to have the procedures separately to reduce the risk of complications.

High-resolution photos will be taken and your surgeon may also use computer digital imaging. Your surgeon will take time to discuss the important risks and potential complications of breast lift with implants surgery and what you can expect in the postoperative period.

The surgeon will also take a full medical history which includes previous operations, current list of medicines taken and any potential allergies. This information will be used to decide on your fitness for the breast uplift and implants procedure. If you are deemed to be a suitable candidate for augmentation mastopexy surgery then we would recommend to spend a period of time to reflect on all the information given. We always recommend a minimum of a '2 week cool off period' for to weigh up your options.

All our prospective patients are more than welcome to have as many follow-up consultations after their initial consultation to make sure you are fully empowered with all the information to make an informed decision for proceeding with breast lift with implants surgery at Centre for Surgery. Breast lift with implants surgery is a very commonly performed by our surgeons.

Once the two-week cooling-off period has passed, our pre-operative assessment team will contact you to confirm your medical fitness for surgery. Stop smoking at least 4 weeks before surgerysmoking significantly increases the risk of nipple necrosis and wound breakdown after augmentation-mastopexy. The combined procedure places the breast tissue under greater tension than a lift alone, making smoking cessation particularly important. Continue to avoid smoking for 4 weeks after surgery. Stop aspirin, ibuprofen, and anti-inflammatory medications 2 weeks before. Review all supplements with your surgeon. Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before surgery. Fasting for TIVA: no food for 6 hours before surgery; clear fluids only (water, black tea without milk, black coffee) up to 2 hours before. Your pre-operative nurse will confirm your specific fasting times. Practical preparation: purchase a non-underwired sports bra in your current size — you will need it immediately after surgery. Prepare loose, front-opening clothing for the day of surgery. Set up your recovery space at home — elevated pillows, easy food, entertainment within arm's reach. Arrange childcare and pet care for the first 5–7 days. Arrange a responsible adult to collect you and stay with you for the first 24 hours.

Please aim to arrive for your breast lift with implants procedure at the confirmed time. One of our nursing team will admit you for the procedure and will carry out a number of tasks including checking your blood pressure and other vital signs including pulse and temperature and then getting you changed into single-use clinic wear. The anaesthetist will then come in to assess you to make sure you are fit for TIVA anaesthetic and will also prescribe a number of oral pre-medications which are given by your nurse to help your recovery after the breast lift procedure. These include anti-sickness medicines and medicines for reducing bleeding. You will then be seen by your surgeon who will confirm the breast lift and implants procedure to undertaken and you will sign the informed consent form. Skin marking and photos may be taken at this point. The skin marking takes time and is a very important component of a successful breast lift and breast implant procedure.

Breast lift with implants is a very commonly performed procedure at Centre for Surgery and is carried out under TIVA general anaesthesia as a day case. The procedure takes approximately 3 hours to carry out. When combined with breast implants, the procedure may take longer to perform. During surgery, your surgeon will make incisions around the nipple and depending on the degree of lift required, place vertical and horizontal incisions beneath the breast. The breast tissue is surgically repositioned to a more elevated position before closing the skin with dissolvable sutures. The breast implants are inserted via a lower breast fold incision using a sterile insertion funnel. A sterile dressing will be applied to protect the incisions during the healing phase.

Once you have woken up from the TIVA anaesthetic, our nurses will closely monitor you for 1-3 hours afterwards to make sure you make a full recovery. You will be given a fruit juice drink or a warm drink as you prefer to build up your energy levels. Once you are assessed as fit for discharge, you will require a responsible adult escort to take you home in a car or taxi and to look after you for at least the first 24 hours after surgery. One of our clinical support team will call you the next morning to assess your progress.

After your breast lift with implants procedure, our dedicated postoperative support team are available round the clock to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Our clinical support team will call you regularly for the first 2 weeks after your procedure to make sure your pain levels are well controlled and your healing is progressing as normal.

Compared with breast enlargement surgery alone the recovery after breast lift surgery is much quicker with very little in the way of discomfort and the majority of our patients are very comfortable by the end of week 1. Your doctor may recommend a period of approximately one week off work. You should minimise any excessive movements of your arms for the first 2 weeks after surgery to help with the healing of the incisions.

You will be required to wear a supportive surgical bra for a full 6 weeks to make sure healing is optimal, breast shape is preserved and so that scars heal with best results. Exercise involving the upper body should be stopped for a full 6 weeks to avoid any potential implant rotation for combined breast lift and breast augmentation surgery.

You will attend for a postoperative check up with one of our nursing team at 7-10 days to review your surgical wound sites and ensure proper healing is taking place. Recommendations on treatments for scar healing may be given for optimal cosmesis. At 6 weeks you should begin to see your final results and you will see your surgeon for a comprehensive review and make sure your results are in line with your expectations.
